My hair is VERY rough and wavy. My roomate told me not to because one of his friends with similar hair straightened it, and the heat caused his hair to fall off.

It won't fall off. If it was true, tons of girls would be walking around bald. Hair is hair, whether it's girl or guy hair. Either your roomate was lying to you or the guy who straightened his hair did something else to it to make it fall out.

My daughter irons here hair every day before school.. using one of those specialised hair irons. Her hair doesnt fall out.

No dude. Seriously, I straighten my hair everyday, and no it won't fall out. If the iron is too hot, then it could damage it. Seeing as you have rough hair, then you shouldn't have a problem. Hope this helps. Have fun =]]

no actually almost everyone you see with perfectly straight hair is definitly using some type of heated straightening method if you have short hair i would suggest using a straightening shampoo and conditiner if your hair is really curly i would use a proffesional one but sunsilk totally rocks my world and then put gel in it and brush it straight while blowdrying it....if its longer then a straightener shouldnt do much damage but if you're very concerned there are many heat protecting hair products you can use...

It'll be fine. Hair straighteners dont make people's hair fall out. However the heat could damage your hair. Be sure you get a heat protectant (various hair product brands sell them) to spray on your hair before straightening it. The directions on the bottle will tell you what to do. Also, make sure you use a moisturizing shampoo and conditioner...this will help keep your hair from getting dried out and damanged from the heat. Good luck and hope this helps.
