What do you suggest for wavy hair that is frizzy and thick but someone wants to wear it down (straig

I have thick, thick, thick hair that has been layered. It's wavy and I can wear it curly but I really like the look of wearing it straight. Does anyone have any tips on how to do this with ease? (Straigtening Iron and Blow Dryer at disposal and I have the ability to pick up whatever brushes needed)

Thanks,

Emily

I used to have the same issue...thick hair, layered, wavy...and I have done a few things.

First, I would recomend you buy a big bottle of conditioner that you will put in your hair and leave in for 2-3 minutes! Then you can wash it out with cool-warmish water. (The coolness of the water makes the hair lay straighter).

Second, after you get out of the shower, make sure you can get back in to dry your hair before it really begins to dry! Once you're back, comb you hair and blow dry it by doing the following.

A) Pull hair from ears up into a bun on the top of your head so that none of it hangs down that far!

B) Take a medium sized round brush and place it under hair and as you blow dry it, pull it down straight.

C) Continue to blow dry that section of your hair until it is completely dry!

D) Once that is done, let down you hair and pull off another section (probably two inches past ear) up into the bun again.

E) Repeat B and C for that section.

F)Continue doing sections until all of your hair is dry.

Third, now that you're hair is dry, pull hair above ears in a bun on top of head. With a straightening iron, take small amounts of hair and straignten! You will go through sections as you did with drying.

Finally, when you are done with that, take hairspray and spay a little around your hair. You do not want too much; enough to keep it in place.

If this does not work or not as well as you would have liked it, then I would suggest that you get your hair chemically straightened! I did that and even though I had to sit there for 4 1/2 hours, it was well worth it! My hair is perfectly straight and it has already lasted 6 months! And it's still really straight!

I use a hair straightner. I really like it.

Well I suggest a perm (no affence). That's what all thick hair needs. After that, try some Hair Mousse. That smoothes frizzy hair. Or you can try some gel.

ok... being a hairstylist I have gone thru MANY Products.... whenever I have come across hair like you described I shampoo and use a leave-in conditioner by RUSK called SMOOTHER. THEN, I use a cream by MATRIX Called SLEEK LOOK and I use BIOSILK along with it (you can use any glosser that's just the one I use). Blow dry it as straight as you can with a LARGE Round brush and then go over it with a flat iron. That should give you a nice smooth look... I usually top it off with a dab more biosilk once it's dry. Good Luck!

hey there I have been doing hair for about 15 years now. I would suggest a really good flat iron. those are the best. make sure you don't wash your hair everyday because its so course your want your natural oils to build on the hair so it will lay flatter. In the salon i work in some of my clients will wash/condition their hair then come in and get it flat ironed once a week for about 20 bucks. That's not to bad to maintain straight hair. Make sure you use salon products to.
